This spot is located in Spain in the south of the province of Cádiz, being the southernmost point of Europe, known worldwide as one of the mecca of kite surfing and windsurfing because of its winds that blow all year round and almost daily due to its outstanding position in the Strait of Gibraltar.
Spots
In tarifa we can find mainly 3 zones to practice the kite:
Valdevaqueros
Located about 9km fare in the cove of Valdevaqueros between Punta Paloma and Punta de la Peña is a great place to practice kitesurfing with both east and west, because with lift in case of an accident the wind will take us towards the dune of Punta Paloma.
It has a limited area for schools but is not recommended as there are areas with many stones.
This spot has several very nice beach bars for family and friends who wait for us on land while we practice our beloved sport, such as Tangana or for the younger ones such as Tumbao.
WHERE IS THIS SPOT?
Los Lances
The beach of the hauls is about 8km long and is divided into northern and southern part, the southern part, which is the closest to the town is bathers area in high season and the northern part we find a beach area for bathers, another for schools and others for the practice of kitesurfing.
This beach has no rocks or other obstacles so it is an ideal area to learn as well as for more advanced users, taking into account that with lift it would be advisable to have a rescue bonus.
In the north sets we find the mouth of the river of the rock and high tide usually generates a large pond, used previously by riders to practice tricks and schools to teach their students because of their water dish (absence of waves ). However, a few years ago, navigation in this lagoon was prohibited because it is a place where many birds that cross the strait nest.
WHERE IS THIS SPOT?
Balneario
Located close to the old town of Tarifa, it is a very small spot only recommended for advanced kiters, it has a swimmers area and another for surfing, so in the high season the practice of kitesurfing is prohibited.
